Escape pods are small craft meant to carry passengers to safety in the event of an emergency on board a spacecraft.
Description[]
Escape pods are equipped with food, water, and a compact shelter. They have weak jets to power the craft, a small computer that looks for a safe landing place, and a distress beacon to attract passing ships. Some escape pods have features to keep droids from entering, like the one R2-D2 and C-3P0 used. Escape pods were most notably featured in Episode III when an Escape pod flew Yoda to safety after Order 66 was carried out, and in Episode IV, when R2-D2 and C-3P0 used an Escape pod to escape from the captured Tantive IV.
